Ashoka Eternal: Slot Overview
When ELK Studios finds a concept it enjoys, the team tends to commit to it and spin the inspiration into a small run of connected releases—often a sequel or two, sometimes more. The studio has produced several standout slot series (a few are referenced in the verdict), and it seems a certain Tiger Prince and his striped companion have returned to the spotlight. They’re back in Ashoka Eternal, the follow-up to the 2023 title Ashoka. While the earlier game was built around scatter-paying, this one switches to cluster pays, even though plenty of the supporting mechanics feel familiar.
Ashoka Eternal isn’t an unattractive slot by any stretch, but it didn’t strike the same visual chord as Ashoka did at the time of review. Naturally, looks are subjective—what feels harsh to one player can look like a showpiece to another. Still, Ashoka Eternal lacks some of the original’s satisfyingly dense, weighty, crisp “tropical jungle” vibe, complete with that mosquito-swatting atmosphere. Here, ELK Studios has gone for something brighter and more open, and while this isn’t meant as nitpicking, it simply didn’t land as the studio’s most impressive pixel work. That said, in typical ELK fashion, the overall audiovisual package remains solid.

Ashoka Eternal runs on an expanding game grid that begins with 5 columns containing a mix of active symbols and blocker symbols. Wins are formed using a cluster pays system, and the title sits toward the high end of the volatility scale with an 8 out of 10 rating. RTP is low (though typical for ELK) at 94%, applying both to standard play with stakes from 20 cents to $/€100 per spin and to rounds started via the X-iter bonus buy options.
Because it’s a cluster pays slot, Ashoka Eternal awards wins when at least 5 matching symbols connect horizontally or vertically. The four lower-value icons are patterned stone blocks, while the 4 premium symbols are blue, green, and red gems, along with a tiger. A 5 OAK cluster returns 0.1 to 1.5 times the bet, rising to 50 to 250 times the bet for a 15+ cluster. Symbols can appear as 1×1, 2×2, or 3×3. When a big symbol drop finishes and gaps remain beneath it, those empty spots are filled by 1×1 sized symbols of the same type. Wilds replace any standard paying symbol and may also land as big versions. Big Wild symbols pay according to how many 1×1 wilds they cover. An all-wild win pays the same as the top-paying symbol.
Ashoka Eternal: Slot Features

Each round begins with a symbol drop where blockers sit above and below the symbols in every column. Winning symbols plus all non-winning symbols of the same kind are removed from the grid. Any blocker symbols touching a winning cluster are also cleared, increasing the number of symbols available on the grid. New symbols then fall in to refill the space. If further wins form, they pay and the Avalanching continues until no more wins occur. Clearing all blockers expands the play area to 7×7, adding fresh blockers on the far left and right columns. Removing those blockers then expands the grid to 7×9, and another set of blockers is placed along the top and bottom rows. Multiplier blocker symbols contribute their value to the global multiplier when positioned adjacent to a winning cluster.
Multiplier Wheel
The multiplier wheel has 12 positions. When it stops with a multiplier activation symbol in the top position, the multiplier becomes active. The wheel turns left one step after each win. If additional wins appear, it keeps stepping left. This continues until the round produces no further wins. Clearing all blockers at level 3 causes the wheel to stop and enables the global multiplier for the rest of the round.
Charged Wild & Redrop Symbol
The charged wild is a wild charged to last up to 3 wins, disappearing after the final win it supports. The redrop symbol, on the other hand, picks one payout symbol type and makes those symbols sticky for one redrop. The redrop feature triggers once there are no more wins.
Bonus Game
Landing 3 active bonus scatter symbols awards 8 free spins. Inactive bonus symbols turn active when they sit next to winning symbols. Charged Wilds carry over from the base game into the bonus. Scatter symbols remain persistent between free spins, and the global multiplier is persistent too. The super bonus game starts if one of the triggering bonus scatters is a super bonus scatter symbol. In the super bonus round, there is double the chance to trigger the global multiplier. Finally, each new bonus scatter that appears during the bonus awards +2 extra free spins.
X-iter
In the X-iter area, players can choose from these bonus modes:
- Bonus Hunt – drops cost 3x the bet and offer triple the chance of triggering the bonus game.
- Charged Wilds – 10x the bet for a drop with all wild symbols charged.
- Super Multiplier Wheel – 25x the bet for a game round with double the chance of activating the global multiplier.
- Bonus – 100x the bet.
- Super Bonus – 500x the bet.

Ashoka Eternal: Slot Verdict
ELK Studios is well used to producing sequels, having pushed out plenty of follow-ups across lines like Nitropolis and the ‘Gold’ series, among others, and the results are often excellent. Not every time, though. Some sequels feel more like a lateral move than a confident leap forward—Cygnus 3 and its debatable prize wheel comes to mind. Ashoka Eternal falls into a similar category, as it didn’t register as a major showstopper. It’s certainly not a poor slot; it just doesn’t feel like a significant upgrade over Ashoka, instead coming across as a side-step that explores what happens when clusters, rather than scatters, drive the win formation.
Alongside the change in pay method, the global multiplier has also been adjusted. In many ways, the previous approach felt stronger. How often will you land a win while the wheel sits on an in-between step, leaving you without a multiplier? In Ashoka, once the multiplier is active, every win receives its boost while it remains active. Ashoka Eternal does provide chances to line up wins with the multiplier too, but for some players it may lean a bit heavily into frustration. Overall, the sense was that Ashoka‘s way of building and applying the multiplier—paired with scatter-paying wins—was simply more fun than Ashoka Eternal’s broader setup. Others may prefer this version, which is exactly why it’s useful that ELK offers an alternative take.
The win potential also stays in the same lane, with a top prize of 25,000x the bet, unchanged from what Ashoka can theoretically deliver. Add together the newer elements, the familiar ones, and the overlapping ideas, and Ashoka Eternal—while a perfectly decent cluster pays slot—didn’t manage to outshine its older sibling.
