When we first saw the title Amazon Kingdom, it was hard not to picture Jeff Bezos on a throne while drones shipped packages worldwide – and even further afield, with Blue Origin taking e-commerce into space. But developer Just For The Win had a very different direction in mind. Amazon Kingdom is a follow up to Scarab Kingdom, sending players to South America to test their luck with a mix of familiar and fresh mechanics.

The “kingdom” angle seems to nod toward the Incas, whose empire stretched along the western edge of Peru and Chile while sitting close to the Amazon Rainforest. That said, we also stumbled on a Nature magazine piece about a major pre-Columbian settlement recently uncovered in southern Amazonia – perhaps Amazon Kingdom is a tribute to that discovery. Either way, the game drops you into a lush tropical setting, with vivid greenery and intricate structures filling the backdrop. Visually it leans into the classic Aztec/Inca slot style, and the panpipe-led, drum-driven soundtrack keeps things rhythmic and familiar if you enjoy this kind of theme.

Classed as a highly volatile slot, Amazon Kingdom plays out on a 5-reel, 4-row layout with 30 fixed paylines. Wins land when at least two character symbols hit on adjacent reels from the left, or when three of any other symbol connect. In the paytable, the standout symbols are the male and female characters, which can appear in sizes ranging from 1×1 up to 1×4. Feature-wise, Amazon Kingdom closely mirrors Scarab Kingdom, with many of the add-ons carrying over. They’re not carbon copies, as a couple of elements have been tweaked here and there, but anyone familiar with the earlier Egypt-themed title will quickly recognize the overall flow.

Bonus Symbols

Bonus symbols can land in the base game, and each reel has a Bonus Holder positioned above it. Whenever a bonus symbol appears, it is added to the matching Bonus Holder. Collecting 3 Bonus Symbols on the same reel triggers the Wild Scroll feature for that reel. In addition, after collecting at least 1 Bonus Symbol, there is a chance the Queen’s Bonus feature is triggered.

Wild Scrolls

Wild Scrolls can occur in the base game as well as in both bonus rounds. If activated during the base game, a Wild Scroll symbol is placed on the reel’s top row. With each subsequent spin, the Wild Scroll expands down one position on that reel. After it reaches the bottom row and has covered every position on the reel, it disappears on the following spin.

Queen’s Bonus

Once triggered, 12 gold coins appear on the screen. Players pick coins in sequence until 3 identical cash prize symbols are revealed. These symbols correspond to four possible prizes worth 15x, 40x, 200, and 5,000x the bet.

Free Spins

Free Spins symbols appear on reels 2, 3, and 4 in the base game. Hitting all 3 launches the standard free spins bonus. Throughout this feature, all wins are multiplied by x2, and a Wild Scroll is placed on reel 3 when the round begins. Players do not receive a set number of free spins. Instead, the bonus ends once Wild Scrolls are no longer in view. Beyond the initial Wild Scroll, any new wild symbols that land will also generate a Wild Scroll from the triggering position down to the bottom of the reels.

If exactly 2 Free Spins symbols land in the base game, they award 1 point to the Free Spins Upgrade Meter – it takes 20 points to fill the meter. After the meter is full, the next time 3 Free Spins symbols land, players trigger Super Free Spins. In this version, Wild Scrolls begin on reels 2 and 4, and wins are multiplied by x5 instead of x2.

Amazon Kingdom: Slot Verdict

Unless you’ve spent a lot of time with Scarab Kingdom, the distinctions between the two may not jump out straight away. And in fairness, the changes aren’t huge – it’s more a rearrangement of existing ideas than a full reinvention. The max win is unchanged, and the overall experience feels very similar (theme swap aside), so if the earlier slot worked for you, Amazon Kingdom is likely to hit the same notes. By “feel,” we mean the same fast-moving pace, frequent feature activity, and collection mechanics that can keep you in the game longer than you might otherwise last. The graphics didn’t impress quite as much this time, and the music wasn’t as catchy, but in most other respects Amazon Kingdom sits close to its Scarab relative.

So what actually differs? Looking closer reveals the key changes, with the most notable being the new Super version of free spins. Previously, players gathered scarabs to activate Cleo’s Bonus, while here the Queen’s Bonus can trigger at random after a scatter collect. Both cash prize Bonus rounds still offer the same set of four prizes, meaning Amazon Kingdom retains the same top-end potential of 5,000x the bet. If we’re being a little provocative, the Super Free Spins might not be quite as “super” as they sound. You do get the x5 multiplier, but the earlier game featured a progressive win multiplier that rose by +1 each spin, whether you won or not. In the end, it may balance out.

Because Amazon Kingdom functions as a sequel of sorts, it naturally loses some of the novelty that Scarab Kingdom had on release. It also doesn’t stand out as strongly in visuals or audio, although some players may prefer a jungle setting over a desert one. Choosing between them largely comes down to which free spins structure you’d rather play through, since both routes can lead to very similar outcomes, just via slightly different paths.
