5 Rings of Darkness doesn’t descend quite that far into the abyss, for better or worse. Better, in that it may suit more cautious players who like a hint of the dark side, or casual gamblers, given the math model’s characteristics. It’s a slot that only goes so far—both mechanically and thematically—like a cultist who hesitates at the last second and steps outside the circle to stop primal chaos from bursting through a portal and shredding the three-dimensional world.
