123 Boom!: Slot Overview
Right near the top of many casinos’ A–Z lists sits 123 Boom! from developer 4ThePlayer. The previous slot we covered from this studio was a shark-filled adventure with multiple reel configurations. In a similar spirit, 123 Boom! keeps the action on the water with a pirate theme, while introducing a couple of less common ways to play. Does it land? Some players will adapt quickly, while others may not enjoy the unconventional feel.
The setting is the open ocean, and the slot appears in a 5-reel, 4-row layout with 1,024 ways to win. Or does it? 4ThePLayer introduces a mechanic called the Slot Slider, where rotating your phone or pressing the Spin Mode button turns the grid. There are two modes – Slide Spin or Top Spin. In Slide Spin, the reels spin right to left and pay left to right. In Top Spin the reels spin top to bottom and pay bottom to top. Put into words it may sound confusing, but a few spins usually make it clear. Top Spin in particular can feel a bit dizzying and may take longer to feel natural.
Framing the reels, either on the sides or above and below (depending on the selected mode), two ships trade fire. With no flags shown, they could be pirates, merchants, or navy vessels—though the swashbuckling visuals strongly suggest at least one is a pirate ship. The audio leans into salty sea vibes and supports the pirate atmosphere nicely.
After choosing a spin mode, you set your stake, with bets running from 10 p/c to $/€50 on any device. One area where 4ThePlayer stands out is the level of detail in the paytable. It lists everything, including a solid RTP rating of 96.4%, medium-high volatility, and plenty more. Additional useful figures include a hit rate of one in every 3.5 spins and a bonus frequency of 1/203 spins. Nothing is tucked away, and there’s no need to guess. You know exactly what you’re signing up for, making 4ThePlayer refreshingly open—much like 123 Boom!’s transparent grid concept.
No matter which mode you pick, a win requires three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels. The row positions are irrelevant, delivering 1,024 ways to win. The symbol set is heavily nautical: a ship’s wheel, telescopes, maps, skull & crossbones, cutlasses, pistols, coins, and treasure chests. The last two icons are a lady pirate and a Blackbeard-style character, paying 5-20x the bet.
The cannonball symbol acts as a wild and can land on any reel. If there’s no win available and there are no Cannonball Wilds at the end of the reel, the Wild slides in the direction of the spin. As it moves, it blasts through symbols one by one until it creates a win, or until it reaches the end of the reel.
123 Boom!: Slot Features

Alongside the Sliding Cannonball Wild described earlier, the game includes Explosive Wins and a Bonus feature to chase. Explosive Wins work much like cascade/reaction mechanics. Each winning combo detonates off the grid, allowing new or remaining symbols to slide into the empty spaces. This can trigger chain reactions of back-to-back wins from a single spin, continuing as long as fresh combinations keep forming.
123 Boom! has unexpectedly strong upside, and the biggest returns are most likely to come from the Bonus feature. It activates when 3 or more cannon scatter symbols are visible at the end of an Explosive Wins sequence. The total number of cannon symbols is gathered, and then the feature starts.
The first cannon symbol launches a cannonball wild onto the reels, kicking off the Sliding Cannonball Wild feature. After the resulting Explosive win sequence finishes, the next cannon scatter fires another cannonball onto the reels. This continues until every scatter has been used. Typically, the feature produces more Explosive Wins than the base game. Up to 50 per spin is possible. The real boost comes from the win multiplier used during the bonus. It begins at x2 and increases by 1 after every Explosive Win. On top of that, scatters can still appear, and whenever they land, they’re collected to extend the feature.
123 Boom!: Slot Verdict
4ThePLayer has tried something noticeably different here, and it takes a bit of time before you can form a firm verdict. The Slot Slider modes may feel slightly disorientating early on, especially Top Spin, so player reactions will likely vary. In testing, the left-to-right Slide Spin saw far more use because it feels familiar and makes it easier to follow the action. Top Spin didn’t appear to provide a clear advantage over the standard approach, though some players may prefer the alternative perspective.
The bonus game is another distinctive part of 123Boom! On paper, a bonus featuring cascades and a rising win multiplier sounds fairly typical. In play, it feels different. The Sliding Cannonball Wild introduces a fresh twist, frequently converting dead spins into wins with one or two well-placed explosions. The bonus also delivered some impressively long win chains, helped by the increasing win multiplier and the ability to collect extra scatters. At its peak, 123 Boom! can deliver wins of up to 14,727 times the stake.
Taking everything into account—potential, stats, features, and more—the positives come out ahead. Still, it does so in a way that might repel some players just as easily as it attracts others. That’s the risk of experimenting, but credit to 4ThePlayer for having the nerve to push something new.
