1 Left Alive (4ThePlayer): Overview
4ThePlayer’s second slot shares plenty in common with their debut 9k Yeti, while still bringing a fair few changes of its own. For starters, there’s the name—once again a smart choice that helps it jump to the top of any alphabetised slot list. It isn’t just a gimmick, though, as the title fits the theme: zombies, the end of the world, and the fight to be the last person standing. Here, the spotlight is on a tough, determined heroine armed with a couple of serious guns. Can she hold out against the swarm—and will you want her to?
Much like the undead themselves, the zombie craze simply won’t stay buried. It’s been huge in recent years thanks to films like World Z and 28 Days, plus the massive TV phenomenon The Walking Dead. Even Disney joined in with a teen zombie high-school musical. There’s something about this grim, grotesque style that keeps pulling us in. Is it the idea of the past returning, or the fascination with life after death? Probably not—it’s more likely the rush of watching waves of monsters get cut down as they relentlessly close in on the hero. Either way, it’s a theme that suits a slot perfectly.
To kick off the chaos in 1 Left Alive, players can pick stakes from 10 c/p up to $/€100. That’s a healthy spread that should suit most budgets. 4ThePlayers has trimmed a reel compared to 9k Yeti, giving the zombies 5 reels to cause trouble on. With 4 rows, that creates 1,024 single win ways, and on top of that you also get the WAYS+PLUS mechanic. This in-house system dramatically boosts the number of winning possibilities, which we’ll get to shortly. All together, it delivers a generous RTP of 97%—exactly what we saw last time. With med-high volatility, 1 Left Alive offers solid payout potential, so on the core stats front there’s little to criticise.
Visually, 1 Left Alive sits around average to slightly above average. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, featuring a familiar eerie backdrop and bright, colourful symbols packed with zombies. The lower-value symbols are the usual 9-A card royals, dressed up with assorted extras like bullets, shotgun shells, scissors, and similar items. The bigger wins come from the zombie-covered symbols, while the female survivor acts as the wild and can also appear expanded to cover up to an entire reel. A nice visual touch is the return of the portrait mode from 9K Yeti, stacking reels vertically and spinning them right to left to better use mobile screen space.
1 Left Alive (4ThePlayer): Features

Would-be survivors have plenty of tools at their disposal to keep things lively—if that’s the right word for a zombie game. The standout mechanic is the Ways+Pays system created by the 4ThePlayers team. It’s not the easiest concept to explain in text, but the key idea is that single symbols on reels can pay by themselves. For example, if two expanded survivor symbols land alongside three aces, the five of a kind Ace line might pay 15 coins (as an example) by using two 1×1 segments from the wilds. The remaining 1×1 segments on those expanded wilds then also pay 15 coins each, which can significantly boost the overall win.
The scatter is the zombie hand that looks like it’s reaching out to grab you—land 3 or more anywhere to trigger Free Spins. Before the round starts, players pick one of four biohazard icons to reveal a zombie symbol that the survivor will target. Whenever that chosen zombie symbol lands during the feature, it turns into a Blood Wild. Blood Wilds are 1×1 tiles that remain on the reels and drop down one position with every spin. The feature can also be retriggered, with the potential to reach up to 500 free spins. That’s huge, though still short of the 880 that are possible in 9K Yeti.
1 Left Alive (4ThePlayer): Verdict
So, has 4ThePlayers delivered on their promise with 1 Left Alive? Largely, yes. It isn’t a revolutionary slot and the studio has clearly taken a safer route, but it’s still a strong second outing from a new provider. The fundamentals are in place and create a sturdy base for the extra mechanics to shine. The Ways+Pays feature can be awkward to put into words, but it’s much easier to appreciate once you see it working during play.
Like most studios, 4ThePlayer will be aiming to attract a broad audience, and that usually means releasing games across a spectrum of volatility. If you’re after ultra high volatility and huge upside, 9k Yeti is the pick. If you’d rather trade some of that high-stakes chase for steadier wins and longer sessions, 1 Left Alive is likely the better fit. Even so, the ceiling remains excellent, topping out at a respectable 5,200 times your stake.
While 1 Left Alive is fairly middle-of-the-road in many areas and doesn’t really spring any surprises, it does feel like 4ThePlayer has taken player feedback onboard and understands what the audience is looking for. As you’d expect, it doesn’t match the polish of more established providers, either mathematically or visually. It’s not a breakout hit, but it’s not a misfire either—and for a new developer, that in itself is a noteworthy result.
